Considerations in designing a K-Wall:
How will it be used? Does it provide background info? Will many people be trying to see it at once?
Will it provide essential info for breakouts?
How long is the event? If the event is long, it’s not always necessary that the walls be complete when participants first walk in the door.
Who are the participants?
What are the expectations of the sponsors
and the participants?
How many hypertiles and panels will the assignments require?
Many questions can be answered by consulting the strawdog.

Gather materials first (articles, books, quotes, images)
Talk to the source of the material to find out where the emphasis is
Find out if a theme has been established

Lay your design out on paper
before
doing it directly onto the wall

The “Rule of Thirds”
is a good
concept to keep in mind while designing your K-Wall

The “Rule of Thirds” is well known to students ofphotography. The idea is that focal points in a picture are most pleasing when placed at the intersections of the dotted lines. The yellow circle indicates the most pleasing position of all (to us in the west) as this is the place where Western people begin when reading.

Maintain awareness of the graphic theme used in the title of the event or on the nametags and try to incorporate it throughout your wall(s)
This isn't always easy to do in the midst of the flurry of event preparations, but it's nice when it happens!
